Adult Study Opportunities

Intergenerational Class: From September to May, the Intergenerational Class (IGC) is a great place to be! IGC tackles a wide range of issues that connect faith to contemporary life. If you are in Middle School or High School, or if you're an adult who would enjoy learning and sharing with youth, IGC is definitely the place for you! IGC meets Sunday mornings at High House. There's time for refreshments and to catch up on the news from friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. The class itself begins at 9:15 and runs till 10:05 a.m.
Current topic: Faith Perspectives on Human Sexuality
Follower's Class: This small Bible study group typically meets on Sunday mornings before the Worship Service to utilize various scripture readings and conduct in-depth discussions of the material. Historically the class does not build upon previous lessons and new participants are welcome each week.
(This class is currently in hiatus. Look for an announcement for its restart date.)
Small Group Studies: The idea is that an intimate group (i.e. ‘small group’) of adults gathers together to deepen our Faith, grow closer to God, and strengthen our bonds of fellowship. We spend time (usually not on Sundays) to study and discuss a specific subject, book, class or set of materials. We have three small group studies currently queued up at GSUCC. For more info contact Larry Dickinson (dickinsonl@asme.org) and be on the lookout for bulletin announcements.
"Prayer - Personal and Diverse" – Starting January 2012 and lasting through Easter, this study will start with the book "Prayer and Temperament", by Chester Michael and Marie Norrisey. The book gives a good overview of prayer, and relates the different types to different personalities using the popular Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, i.e. personality types.

"Summer 2012 Book Study to Make you Think and Pray” - We will pick a meaty subject and highly regarded book, and gather several times next summer to discuss it together. Larry Dickinson is collecting a list of potential subjects/books, so let him know your thoughts and suggestions on a topic or a book.
“First Light: Jesus and the Kingdom” - Featuring John Dominic Crossan and Marcus Borg, a 12-session DVD based study of the historical Jesus and the Kingdom of God, planned for Fall 2012
