Good Shepherd United Church of Christ has a well-child nursery called the “Little Lambs” available for those children ages infant to two years of age. Our nursery atmosphere is one of warmth and caring – we want our children to feel safe, loved, and welcomed while members and visitors enjoy the worship service.
Steven Boyer has been with the nursery since July, 2013. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and his Master's Degree in Education at NCSU. He hopes to eventually teach high school history and/or social studies. Interests include history (20th Century military technology), computer gaming, and target shooting.
GSUCC is a safe-church. We love and cherish children of all ages and are committed to keeping them safe. This means we follow specific guidelines to ensure the well-being and protection of all our children during church services and church activities. All nursery care workers and volunteers have received safe-church training and are familiar with safe-church guidelines. Click here to view our safe-church policy.
We are very fortunate to have two wonderful nursery care providers on staff. Karen Lundin joined our staff in May, 2013. She graduated from NCSU with a Bachelor's degree in International Studies in 2011. She is currently working there in the International Employment and Taxation Department. Future plans include returning to graduate school to earn a Master's degree in Higher Education. Interests include reading, dancing, traveling, NC State athletics, and visiting aquariums.
Each Sunday our nursery care providers arrive at 10 am. During the worship service, they interact and play with our children. They read stories and provide a simple age-appropriate, God-centered activity or craft. They supervise a simple snack with goodies provided by parents (or Goldfish, Teddy Grahams, and water if nothing is provided from home). Our goal is to ensure that all children in the nursery have a positive and enjoyable experience!
All children are welcome here! When coming for the first time, you will be asked to provide any information about potential food allergies. Also, please bring a small tote bag with the following items from home – extra diapers/wipes, a change of clothes, a simple snack, along with your child's preferred drink. We look forward to an exciting year with our youngest church members and visitors!
