On Sunday afternoon, September 26, over a pizza lunch, the newly formed middle-school youth group chose its unique name from a list of 15 suggestions made by the participants. This group, under the leadership of Claire Jenkins and Chris Dileo, will generally meet on the second Sunday of the month, and then again in unison with the yet-unnamed Senior High Youth Group on the fourth Sunday.
The purpose of youth ministry is to provide communities of belonging, through which youth can explore and affirm who they are as gifted people of God and actively live out their Christian faith within the body of Christ and all God‘s creation.
It is our goal to provide those in the middle-school grades (grades 6–8) a place where they will feel accepted, loved and valued in a safe environment. Through brainstorming and discussion, the youth have created a well-rounded agenda for the coming year, where they will be involved in community service, age-appropriate group discussions and learn-ing, as well as fun activities that will promote friendship and Christian values.
