Fellowship

The Christian Fellowship Ministry is responsible for building and maintaining a loving community among the people of Good Shepherd. This Ministry helps the congregation fulfill its covenant to live as a family in Jesus Christ by initiating, arranging and coordinating social occasions and meals attended by church members, friends and guests.

Refreshments Following Worship Service
Christian Fellowship serves refreshments during the Fellowship Hour following worship each Sunday. This is a special time where it is obvious that those present enjoy sharing with each other while enjoying some tasty and healthy treats. Everyone is welcome to attend. Those who wish to sponsor this Fellowship Hour in honor or memory of a loved one may do so by contributing food or a small monetary donation.

Pot Lucks, Other Meals and Celebrations
The Christian Fellowship Ministry hosts a number of pot lucks and other meals, including:
  • Annual Deacon’s pot luck lunch following worship service
  • Ash Wednesday service soup and bread supper
  • Hymn sing pot luck
  • Picnic in the park following worship at Ritter Park over Memorial Day weekend
  • Hanging of the greens luncheon following worship in conjunction with preparing the sanctuary for the Christmas season
  • Advent pot luck supper, along with Christmas carols and Social Ministries service project
  • Good, old fashioned hot dog lunches after church work days
  • Ice cream socials, birthdays and other special occasions

Joint Worship Services with Cary First Christian Church
The months in which there are five Sundays, Good Shepherd participates in a joint worship service with our sister church, Cary First Christian. The two churches take turns hosting the service and providing fellowship and a meal afterwards. The Christian Fellowship Ministry coordinates the meals held at Good Shepherd.
