Sunday Worship – October 2 – On-Site Living Waters Retreat , 10am-noon

The Living Waters Retreat at the beach has been cancelled for this weekend due to Hurricane Ian weather conditions, so we now have the opportunity to join together on Sunday morning at Good Shepherd UCC, as a whole church, for a special time of sabbatical reflection and worship.

We will begin at 10am with a remembrance of baptismal waters, followed by reflections and activities as a community. We will conclude our time with a communion service and refreshments. Childcare will be available. The mini-retreat will not be available on Zoom.

Everyone, whether you were registered for the beach retreat or not, is welcome!

We will resume our customary worship schedule next Sunday, October 9 and are also in discussion with Living Waters Retreat to reschedule our retreat for a later date.

In light of the CDC’s updated indicators for monitoring community levels and recommendations, the GSUCC Covid Task Force has recommended that GSUCC move to a masking optional, not required, indoors policy. Our communion practice and outdoor fellowship will remain the same for now.

While we recognize there are still unvaccinated (especially children under 5) and immunocompromised folks in our community, our low transmission rate and high vaccination rate provide a significant layer of protection for everyone.

We encourage the continued use of masks for anyone for any reason they feel is appropriate for themselves and their situation. Not wearing a mask indoors may feel weird, may feel wonderful, may feel both! Or it may not feel like a safe decision for you right now and you’ll choose to continue masking. All of these responses are valid and will be respected at GSUCC.

We value your continued support of GSUCC ministry. The preferred method is to send checks or direct bill pay to Good Shepherd United Church of Christ,1050 NW Maynard Rd., Cary, NC 27513. You may also access on-line giving HERE.

Permission to stream the hymns in this service obtained from One License with license #A-715220.

A progressive Christian community living in love.

Cary’s Good Shepherd United Church of Christ is a vibrant family of faith that is dedicated to being a welcoming and embracing home for families and individuals. We strive to the reflect the teachings of Jesus Christ in our relationships, spiritual journey and service to others.

Our Faith

Good Shepherd UCC embraces the progressive tradition of the United Church of Christ, which traces it’s roots through the Pilgrims, the Afro-Christian Movement, and German immigrant churches.  UCC firsts include: ordination of a woman and an openly gay man, participation in civil disobedience, and support of marriage equality.

Our Family

Good Shepherd UCC is diverse in all sorts of ways- age, race, gender expression, background, sexuality, education, family structure, etc.!  We take great pride in being a welcoming and inclusive congregation. Whoever you are, and wherever you find yourself on life’s journey, there is a place here for you to be known and loved in a family of faith.

Our Focus

Good Shepherd UCC is a Christ-centered congregation that seeks to do justice, work for peace, and build an inclusive community. We strive to demonstrate Jesus’ love for all, compassion for the hurting, and advocacy for the oppressed. Social justice and community involvement are a long-standing and essential part of who we are.

Wherever you are on your faith journey,
you are welcome here!

A joy-filled family of faith.

"Walk with justice, walk with mercy and with God's humble care ..." We end by singing this every week and it is seen in our members' actions not just our words.
