Make Your Voice Count!

Election day is November 3, 2020, and Good Shepherd United Church of Christ wants every voice to be heard! With seemingly ever-changing voting laws, compounded by the public health crisis of 2020, it is more important than ever for all voters to know all of their rights and options to vote, and to do so safely.

GSUCC has formed a voter education team to assist our members and friends in learning more about the voting options that are available to you. Please click here to visit our Voting & Election Information page and feel free to forward it to those you know who may find this information helpful.

Online Worship — Sunday, October 18, 2020 @10:30am

We look forward to having you join us online for worship on Sunday! Please pass this email on to family, friends, and neighbors and invite them to join us.

We welcome you to join us on-line for worship at 10:30am via Zoom. Click here to access the bulletin and this week’s prayer list for our worship service.

We will be celebrating communion as part of our service this Sunday. Please have nearby the elements for the service – juice, wine, or whatever you have on hand along with bread or crackers.

The meeting will open and you are welcome to join us on-line beginning at 10:20 if you want to make sure you are connected. We will take a few minutes at the beginning of the service to meet in breakout rooms and greet one another. We also invite you to stay after worship and join us for our virtual “coffee hour.”

PLEASE NOTE: Zoom now requires a password to enter video conferences. If you are on our mailing list, we will provide the password in our emails on Tuesday and Thursday this week. If you are looking forward to being our guest on Sunday, please contact Church Moderator Amy Murray via email no later than 10am on Sunday. Amy will be happy to provide you with password information for Sunday’s worship service.

A few notes:

Please have a candle nearby to light at the beginning of the service.

If you wish to submit a prayer request for next week’s prayer list, you may do so by clicking here.

If your video is on, we can see you. All the time, whatever you do. Just remember that 🙂

Most of the time participants will be muted. If you are not speaking, you should be muted and can do that yourself. There will be two points in the service where you will be able to click the “raise hand” function and be recognized to speak. Those are during prayers and reflections. For those on the phone only, you can “raise your hand” by pressing *9.  You may also share your prayers in the chat.

Please be aware that if you use both your phone and computer, it can sometimes create feedback which sounds like a high pitched tone or echoing. This support article from Zoom can help you set up your phone and computer so that it doesn’t create feedback.

Permission to stream the hymns in this service obtained from One License with license #A-715220.

Though you may not be able to worship in-person with us right now, we value your continued support of GSUCC ministry. The preferred method is to send checks or direct bill pay to Good Shepherd United Church of Christ,1050 NW Maynard Rd., Cary, NC 27513. You may also access on-line giving HERE.

In addition to your regular giving, those who are able are invited to contribute to the Good Shepherd UCC “COVID-19 Fund.”  If you have financial needs due to COVID-19 please contact one of our pastors.

I look forward to us joining together once more for worship this Sunday! Our pastors and congregational care team leaders continue to be in touch with folks, but please be sure to let us know if you have any needs. We are in this together!

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Carla

A progressive Christian community living in love.

Cary’s Good Shepherd United Church of Christ is a vibrant family of faith that is dedicated to being a welcoming and embracing home for families and individuals. We strive to the reflect the teachings of Jesus Christ in our relationships, spiritual journey and service to others.

Our Faith

Good Shepherd UCC embraces the progressive tradition of the United Church of Christ, which traces it’s roots through the Pilgrims, the Afro-Christian Movement, and German immigrant churches.  UCC firsts include: ordination of a woman and an openly gay man, participation in civil disobedience, and support of marriage equality.

Our Family

Good Shepherd UCC is diverse in all sorts of ways- age, race, gender expression, background, sexuality, education, family structure, etc.!  We take great pride in being a welcoming and inclusive congregation. Whoever you are, and wherever you find yourself on life’s journey, there is a place here for you to be known and loved in a family of faith.

Our Focus

Good Shepherd UCC is a Christ-centered congregation that seeks to do justice, work for peace, and build an inclusive community. We strive to demonstrate Jesus’ love for all, compassion for the hurting, and advocacy for the oppressed. Social justice and community involvement are a long-standing and essential part of who we are.

Wherever you are on your faith journey,
you are welcome here!

A joy-filled family of faith.
