Ash Wednesday through Easter Sunday 2021
The season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday (February 17) and lasts forty days, not including Sundays. The name has Germanic roots meaning “to lengthen,” which reflects the lengthening of days in the spring. Lent was traditionally a time of preparation, fasting, and praying for those who were to be baptized at Easter. Today it is a time of repentance, reflection, and action as we prepare ourselves for Easter. Our Lenten theme this year, reflected in study, worship and activities, is “Drawing Near to God.” Each Sunday we will explore an aspect of our theme.
Our activities last year were abruptly halted due to the spread of Covid-19. This year we will remain remote, but new and exciting activities are being planned to experience this season in a different yet reflective way.
