September 20 – Climate Strike
Join forces and raise voices with Triangle students, faith communities, and those who care about our planet as millions around the world walk out of homes, schools and workplaces to join young people in the streets for the biggest Climate Strike yet. Sponsored by US Climate Strike and 350 Triangle, this event provides the opportunity to learn about the impacts of climate change, interact with Triangle groups taking actions to avert the looming disaster and take personal action to make our concerns known. Meet on Friday, September 20, at 12:30pm on the Halifax Mall, 300 North Salisbury Street, Raleigh.”
Part of this event will be a “parade” going around the educational booths and gathering pieces of the puzzle/quilt that will be used to create a beautiful visual in the center, showing how we need all of the connections and pieces to this puzzle to help with the climate emergency we are in. The group will deliver letters to the NC General Assembly (Sen. Berger and Speaker Moore) and legislators, Governor Cooper’s office, NC Public Utility Commission, and NC Department of Environmental Quality. There will be suggested actions people can take the following week during the Global Week of Climate Action through September 27 with phone calls and personal actions.
